Without a sense of urgency, something will always be “more important” than sitting down at your desk for today’s writing session.
Without urgency, you won’t do the small, simple things that guarantee you write, finish and publish your book.
A deadline is one of your most effective writing tools, second only to writing time. Embrace them.
Set specific deadlines for your first draft, your final draft, and your publication date.
Set those dates in stone because if you give yourself an escape hatch, you’ll use it – guaranteed.
And your book will never see the light of day.
With the “Big Three” deadlines set, break your book down and set deadlines for every chapter. Set deadlines for each section of each chapter, if that creates urgency for you.
Do whatever it takes to spark that sense of urgency, of immediacy, so you will do the work required, whether you feel like it or not in the moment, to write, finish and publish your book.
The best way to not look back on your life with regret is to life your life without regret.
I don’t know anyone who, after publishing their book, said they regretted a single minute they devoted to writing it.
Deadlines are your pathway to the finish line of Publication Highway.
Embrace them!
