But our true character is revealed by our response to these hard days of life – whatever they may be.
In 2018, my wife was diagnosed with Stage 3C breast cancer.
Try writing a book while helping your wife through cancer treatment!
Those are the hardest words I’ve ever written. They came at the end of long days because my wife’s needs came first.
Writing came a distant second, if at all.
But writing also became my sanctuary at the end of those long days, once she was finally asleep.
Situations like this will reveal what you’re really made of.
When life kicks your butt, what do you do?
Do you give up?
Or do you find a way around, over or through the problem?
There is always a solution. Always.
Perseverance is the key in these situations. Perseverance is also our best friend in these situations.
These challenges reveal our true character. Eventually, we’re grateful for this.
Our response in every one of these moments is a choice.
Choose to persevere.
The hard writing days allow us to be grateful for the easy days, just as the hard days of life allow us to be grateful for the easy days.
If a little outside accountability will be helpful to get your first draft finished, I encourage you to join me daily at 4PM Pacific for Writing Power Hour.
Being part of a small, committed group can really help get those words out.
