Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind
-Oscar Wilde
Peace of Mind can be such a fickle thing…
To safeguard my peace of mind, I must be emotionally and psychologically grounded.
When I not, almost any passing thought or opinion can knock me off my path.
If you find yourself getting knocked about by the day’s events or by someone else’s emotional rollercoaster, step out of that situation, take a deep breath and focus on three things you’re grateful for.
Here’s a simple exercise to help you regain your mental and emotional equilibrium – your peace of mind – when you misplace it
Grab a piece of paper and a pen.
Mark five columns on the page and title them, Gratitude, Love, Joy and Compassion.
Under Gratitude, write down three things you’re grateful for.
Under Love, write down three people you love or loves you.
Under Joy, write down three things that fill you with joy
Under Compassion, write down three ways you can show your compassion today.
Under Courage, write down three ways you can be more courageous in your life.
When you’re finished, focus on the list of people you’re grateful for and ask yourself, “How can I express gratitude, love, joy and compassion to each of these awesome people?”
Write down your answers.
This is a great way to re-center yourself emotionally and intellectually.
This is also how, together, we can change the world, two minutes at a time.
