Day 376: Courage to Write, Courage to Listen: Twin Assets in Your Author’s Journey

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.

-Winston Churchill

There is a time to courageously express myself on the page. There is also a time to courageously listen to constructive feedback from my readers.

Same courage. Different applications.

It’s important to remember we’re commanded to be courageous in all things/

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
–Joshua 1:9

You wrote a book because you want to help people. So listen to their opinions – their praise and their criticism – and use this feedback to push you to grow as an author and as a human being.

Courage requires us to speak up. Courage also requires humility and a willingness to acknowledge when we’re wrong – and correct those errors as fast as we can.

These are the “teaching moments” of life that we don’t often welcome, but we need.

[bctt tweet=”So, every time you act courageously, whether it’s hitting the ‘Publish’ button or rewriting a chapter based on feedback from your readers, take a moment to acknowledge it.”]

This encourages you to stay on the courage train so you will continue to express your experience, strength and hope so it resonates with your reader.
