Day 361: Daily Discipline: Your Secret Weapon to Smash Through Writing Deadlines

The only way to meet deadlines is to have discipline and to work hard.

Your daily writing schedule is your published book’s best friend.

Well, its 2nd-best friend.

Your published book’s best friend is your commitment, your discipline to show up and write every day, whether you feel like it or not.

Writing 2,000 words a day is easy. Yes, even if you don’t write 2,000 words today. Write every day and you will get there.

I remember the first day I wrote 2,000 words in a single day. It was AMAZING!

Then I did it again. And again. And then it became what I did every day, and it was no longer a big deal.

So I set new and higher goals for my writing sessions.

I challenged myself to write 2,500 words, then 3,000, then 4,000, and then 5,000.

The first day I hit 5,000 words in a single day was another amazing moment, but as I continued to keep my writing appointments – whether I felt like it or not – that, too, soon became routine.

Discipline is the key, as Proverbs 12:24 teaches us.

The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor.

Sure, some days will be better than others, but with consistent daily practice you will more and you will write better a year from now than you do today.

Guaranteed.
