Perseverance is rooted in possibility and the belief that you can do this, even if you can’t see your entire journey down Publication Highway.
Obstinance is rooted in your refusal to take any action at all because you can’t see the finish line, let alone every twist and turn of the road ahead.
Perseverance says, “I don’t know what’s around that next curve, but whatever it is, I’ll deal with it and keep going.”
Obstinance says, I don't know what's around that next corner, so I better stop now to be safe. There is no safety in stopping, only failure and self-loathing. Proverbs 19:20 encourages us to be receptive to guidance and willing to learn from experience; to persevere no mater what.
“Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days.”
If your back is up at a certain point, examine your resistance to see what’s behind it. Then clear it out of the way and keep going.
Keep an eye out for washed-out bridges or boulders blocking your way, but don’t let the possibility of them keep you trapped in fear.
Persevere.
