Never Limit Yourself Because Of Others’ Limited Imagination, Never Limit Others Because Of Your Own Limited Imagination.

-Mae Jemison

We face two major challenges each day.

The first is to prevent ourselves from taking on limiting beliefs from others or our own mind.

The second is to prevent ourselves from projecting our limiting beliefs onto others.

Both are vile sins, to be sure, but I think the greater sin is when we attempt to project our limited imagination, our limiting beliefs, onto others.

Preventing others from doing this to us is a daily duty. It’s easy to handle this on a daily basis.

The far more insidious sin is doing this to others, because we typically believe we’re doing it for their good. That’s the true evil of it.

So, how do we prevent this from happening?

I visualize the world I want to leave to my grandchildren and their children. There’s no place for a closed mind or limited imagination in that scenario.

Then I ask myself one simple focusing question.

“What limiting belief am I projecting onto others and why am I doing that?”

I deal with the answer as openly and honestly as I can.

And I make the change.

Then I ask a second question.

“What limiting belief must I let go of so I can replace it with a belief that empowers and creates the world I want for them?”

Again, I deal with the answer as openly and honestly as I can.

And I make the change.

The cleaner and clearer we can be with one another, the more we can help each other fulfil our dreams instead of projecting our fears onto them.

All that’s required is gratitude for the amazing life we live and rigorous self-honesty to ensure we keep living it and help others to do the same.
