One of the best ways to gain clarity over our life is to spend some time selflessly serving others.
This is my wife’s “go to” method for fending off sadness and depression.
Whenever she’s struggling with something, instead of wallowing in the internal struggle, so seeks out someone less fortunate and helps them.
Sometimes this means helping at a soup kitchen. Other times it’s helping a person she met on the street.
In this context, the “who” is not nearly as important as the “what.”
Service. Specifically, service without expecting anything in return.
So how can you apply this principle to selling your book?
It’s actually easier than you may think.
Does your book offer a specific solution to a specific problem?
Where can you find more of those people?
How can you get your book into their hands?
Can you donate copies to your local community centre, seniors centre, or drug/alcohol rehab?
Get creative. That’s all book marketing is – getting creative with how you can get copies of your book into the hands of those who need it.
While this method may not lead directly to sales, you may be surprised to learn facilities like these are always on the lookout for resources that can help their clients.
Be of service first, and see where that road leads!
Thank you for sharing your journey!
