Leaving the nest of your comfort zone is terrifying, yet it’s also the only way you will learn how to spread your wins and fly.

I define the comfort zone as that terrible place where all my dreams and visions for my life go to die. It’s like Someday Island, only worse.

Overly dramatic?  Perhaps, but it’s also true.

Inside the comfort zone, we’re warm and we feel safe.  Everything is familiar, but those feelings of warmth, safety and familiarity are the velvet handcuffs of our failure.

We will never learn or grow or do great things inside the comfort zone because our default state is always to do nothing. Click To Tweet

That’s why the comfort zone feels so good.

It takes great effort to get the train wheels moving so we don’t do anything. We ignore the fact that once the train is moving it takes very little effort to maintain our momentum.

Only after we take that leap of faith can our wings of competency and excellence grow and, in turn, take us to greater heights than we’ve ever achieved before.
