Day 112: Ralph Waldo Emerson – What Lies Behind Us

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. --Ralph Waldo Emerson

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

–Ralph Waldo Emerson

Despite all the time most of us spend dwelling on the mistakes of our past, we have no control over them.

Those actions are finished, even if we still live with their consequences today.

What’s ahead of us tomorrow is equally out of our control.

Today is the most important day of our entire life.

The only moment of time we truly control is this one.

Are we living our day this way?

Our thoughts are the power that lies within us.

With a single thought, we can set a miracle in motion, but far too often we refuse to accept that reality.

We make a conscious choice to be less than we are capable of.

Sound familiar?

The solution to this negative cycle is extraordinarily simple.

Make a different choice.

Choose to be a better person tomorrow than you are today.

Follow that decision with immediate and effective action to turn that decision into reality.

Repeat every day.  Repeat every hour of every day.  Every minute, if necessary.

What accomplishment, when achieved, will give you the greatest joy and sense of fulfillment?

What steps must you take today to move you closer to that dream?

Do it.

Yes, even if it feels difficult in the moment.

Fulfillment isn’t found in the easy things. It’s found in overcoming the obstacles you meet along the way.

You got this.

Believe in yourself.

Take the actions required and before you know it, you’ll be standing on that mountaintop that looked so far off just a short time ago.
